Giant Storm: While We Looked South, It Came From The North

Posted on February 2, 2011 by Ira Flatow

NASA is calling this week’s winter storm a “monster” that we haven’t seen in 50 years.

It’s funny how when we folks talk about global warming, we usually think of intense hurricanes – bigger, badder ones – coming up through the gulf in a Katrina wrecking manner. But when climatologists talk about global warming they include all storms. And more moisture in them.

Perhaps this is one of them (though you really can’t link this – yet – to global warming) which in retrospect oh, say, 50-100 years from now, we might say was a sure sign of climate change.

But caught us looking in the opposite direction.
